Nafisa Moallim, MSW, RSW
(she/her)

As a bicultural therapist, I possess a wealth of knowledge navigating two identities and understanding trauma. My approach to therapy is pro-Black, pro-choice, pro-queer, and pro-trans rights. I support all cultural backgrounds, religions, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

I am known to be a direct therapist who is not afraid of big feelings (e.g., anger, shame). I provide guidance on identifying gaps in communication and shifting to a supportive lens without blame. I have training in Emotionally Focused Family Therapy- EFFT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy- ACT, Accelerated Resolution Therapy- ART, and Narrative Practice.

I work steadily with clients to reframe outlooks on their shortcomings through storytelling and identifying who has influenced their identity (cultural/societal/family influences). By learning to understand yourself, you will have a greater opportunity to identify needs in relationships and healthy boundary setting.

At Moallim Wellness, the goal is to teach wellness in a manner that is culturally responsive and sustainable for your lifestyle. Through exploration of your life history, we will work together to identify strengths, areas for support, and methods for healing.

Moallim Wellness resides on amiskwacîwâskahikan - Treaty 6 Territory and Métis Nation of Alberta Region 4. This is the traditional land of the Nehiyaw (Cree), Denesuliné (Dene), Nakota Sioux (Stoney),  Anishinaabe (Saulteaux) and Niitsitapi (Blackfoot), and many more First Nations Peoples. We acknowledge and honour this land on which we work, learn, and cohabitate.
